THE CAST

MO TZU YI as Gin

Taiwan-born actor Mo Tzu Yi (莫子儀) graduated from the prestigious Taipei University of Arts in 2003, with a major in Drama.

Tzu Yi is a versatile actor with a career crossing over from stage to screen and television. His latest film ‘Snowfall in Taipei’ received its world premiere in competition at the 2009 Tokyo International Film Festival.

His recent film ‘A Place of One’s Own’ won three awards at 2009 Taipei International Film Festival, including audience award, best supporting actress and best production design. His previous films such as ‘The Most Distant Course’, ‘Candy Rain’ and ‘Do Over’ received critical acclaim at the international film circuit, from Hong Kong, Pusan to Tokyo and Venice.

With his active involvement in theatre, Tzu Yi has taken part in more than 30 productions in and outside Taiwan, including 《西遊記》、 《水許傳》、 《包法利夫人們名媛的美麗與哀愁》.

He has also appeared in many TV series, thrice earning him best supporting actor nomination at the Golden Bell Awards, the main TV awards in Taiwan.

Forever is Tzu Yi’s first Singapore film.

JOANNA DONG as Joey

Joanna Dong (董姿彥) embarked on a diverse and multi-faceted career in performing and singing upon completing her degree in Sociology at the National University of Singapore in 2004.

In 2008, Joanna was awarded Best Supporting Actress for ST Life! Theatre Awards for her role in Mandarin musical hit If There’re Seasons. She was also in Forbidden City, the award-winning musical by the Singapore Repertory Theatre.

Other theatre credits include principal roles in The Soldier and His Virtuous Wife, Do Not Disturb – Late Checkout Please (Real Actors) and Liao Zhai Rocks!

Fronting the DJ-musician-vocalist group coll.eff [collective effervescence], Joanna is one of the local pioneers of free vocal improvisation to club music. A member of award winning a cappella group “ngam”, her vocal adventures have also taken her into eclectic acid jazz, collaborative workshops with local DJ collective, Frontal Labs, small group jazz with WFP and six-piece jazz fusion band Broken Orange Fence

In 2008, Joanna released her debut Jazz EP Lullaby Nomad comprising original lyrics written in English and Mandarin. This was launched with a sold-out concert at the Esplanade Recital Studio.

Forever marks her film debut. She is also the lyricist and performer of the film’s theme song 我愛你愛你愛你 Forever.

SARAH NG LI-WEN as Cecilia

Sarah Ng Li-Wen (黃麗雯) entered the show business at a very young age. When she was merely 2 years old, she graced the cover of Motherhood magazine and was subsequently involved in several children’s fashion shoots.

When she turned 17, she bagged her first major print advertisement assignment with FairPrice. Later she became the face of Biore and NETS.

Sarah holds a degree in psychology at the University of Buffalo. She is also well trained in classical ballet as well as Latin and modern dance.

FOREVER is Sarah’s film debut.

 

THE CREW

Wee Li Lin
Director-Writer

Forever marks the second feature film of Wee Li Lin whose debut Gone Shopping competed for the New Talents award at the 11th Shanghai International Film Festival (2008).

Prior to venturing into feature films, Wee was a television producer and director and is also best known as the most prolific female short filmmaker in Singapore.

With almost 10 shorts under her belt, Wee received numerous awards, including Best Director at the 1997 Singapore International Film Festival for her first short Norman On The Air.

Outside of Singapore, two of her shorts won accolade in the US: “Special Jury, Best Comedy” at Georgetown Independent Film Festival in 2003; and the “Certificate of Excellence, Live Action Short Film or Video" at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival in 2004.

A graduate of Brown University in Rhode Island with a BA in Art Semiotics, Li Lin is currently completing her MFA in Dramatic Writing at New York University's Tisch Asia under a Media Education Scheme Scholarship.

Silvia Wong
Producer-Writer

Silvia Wong is the producer and co-writer of Forever.

Silvia was previously involved in the production of US studio Fox’s first Chinese-language film, Hot Summer Days, produced by Fruit Chan and starring Jackie Cheung, Daniel Wu, Nicholas Tse and Rene Liu.

Prior to producing, Silvia was the South East Asian correspondent for trade press Screen International and its sister website ScreenDaily.com.

Gerald Stahlmann
Director of Photography

A graduate of Curtin University of Technology, Gerald Stahlmann is a cinematographer, editor and musician. Forever marks his first feature film as cinematographer. It was shot on his own Red One camera.

Yim Mun Chong
Editor

Yim Mun Chong is a true veteran with no less than 20 years of experience in the industry, having gone through the film cutting days of the Steinbeck to today’s NLEs.

He has spent the bigger part of his career between Singapore’s local television station and some of the top post-production houses in Hong Kong and Singapore in the editing of feature films, documentaries, serials and commercials. His recent filmography includes Being Human (2010), Love Matters (2009), both directed by Jack Neo, and horror Blood Ties (2009).

Charles Lim
Art Director

Charles Lim is a first class honor’s graduate in Fine Art from the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London. His awards include the JCCI art award as well as the Presidents Young Artist Award.

Charles worked as art director for the first time on Forever.

As a former Singapore national sailor (470 class), he is a medalist in the SEA games, ASEAN games and competitor in the Olympics. Charles competed as part of Team China in the America’s cup in Valencia, Spain as a sewer.

Alex Oh
Music Composer

Currently based in Shanghai, Alex Oh has previously composed music for Wee Li Lin’s debut feature Gone Shopping. He also works closely with Singapore director Kelvin Tong on Rule No. 1 (2009), Men In White (2007), Love Story (2006) and The Maid (2005). In 2004, Alex was nominated for Best Original Music Score at the Asian Television Awards for a TV Drama, The Frontline.

Lim Yi Benjamin
Music Composer for theme song

Lim Yi Benjamin is a composer, sheng (Chinese reed pipe mouth organ) performer, guitarist and educator. He studied composition under Dr Zechariah Goh Toh Chai (NAFA), Dr Kelly Tang (NIE), Dr Wang Dan Hong (Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing), and counterpoint under Dr Eddy Chong (NIE). His works have been commissioned and performed by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, re:mix String Orchestra and Ministry of Education Co-Curricular Activities Branch, amongst others. His recent film works include soundtracks for the short films 'Threshold' (Dir. Loo Zihan), 'Kitchen Quartet' (Nicole Midori Woodford), 'Frail Line' (Dir. Er Kia Hui), and 'In the House of Straw' (Chris Yeo). Lim Yi Benjamin's soundtrack for 'Threshold' was also nominated for best soundtrack at the 1st SingaporeShort Films Awards 2010." He is currently the Composer-in-Residence for The TENG Ensemble.
